Ants nests in lawns

A lot of ants' nests in lawns this year ! I cut most of my lawns fortnightly and noticed them springing up in between cuts ...... can make a bit of a mess when mower goes over them with resulting bare patch etc .

Wood chip depth

For a large domestic garden, would around 10cm depth of wood chip be about right for bed that contain shrubs and a few trees, gets no traffic through it. Probably about 100m2 total border size ? Should this depth help suppress the weeds without a mem

Soil in Compost Bins

Job in 2 weeks partly involves removing 3 compost bins 330L plastic type, full of soil.Not sure why they were in the garden as small garden with only around 10m2 of borders, if that.If the bins are still usable I'm going to see if nearest allotments
