Hi Matt
I know that OFSTED use Capita for their checks. Here's a link to their website if that helps.

As far as I am aware the Criminal Records Bureau (CRB) no longer exists. The checks are now done by the Disclosure and Barring Service so you now need a DBS check. There are two types of check - basic and enhanced. Anyone can get a basic check done themselves but an enhanced disclosure (which is usually what is needed when work involves possible contact with vulnerable groups such as children or vulnerable adults) has to be gained via an orginisation who are registered with the DBS. Usually this would be an employer such as a school for example or a local authority if you were doing volunteer work. As an employer you can get a check done on members of staff (or yourself if you are the boss) through an 'umbrella organisation' which is a company authorized by the DBS to carry out enhanced checks. You can check local umbrella organisations in your local area through the .gov website: https://www.gov.uk/find-dbs-umbrella-body and then simply contact them directly.
We use http://www.disclosurescotland.co.uk/ for all our CRB's.
....and I have applied for just a few....!

that was the company i was looking at.. its for my buy with confidence application, do you think the basic will do for that?
Basic disclosure will be fine for BWC schemes - or it was when I last did mine!
thanks nick
