Paving Advice Please

As a result of extensive excavations and semi under-pinning to the rear of our house we have been left with 3 different levels of concrete which need to be finished with paving. The first area (see pic) runs until it reaches a drain channel and then steps up. The measurement from concrete to drain level is 40mm. So, this means in order for the paving to be level with the top of the channel we are limited to what can be laid. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Some of this Indian sandstone is pretty thin, but can it be laid on the concrete with muck under?

    Can I also suggest that you give the concrete a power wash to remove the algae that appears from the photo to have formed, will give you a better key.

    pva or a cement slurry to back of the slabs also helps greatly..

    Hard to see if it would be possible from the picture but have you considered raising the height/building up the drainage channel so the grid is flush with the top of the wearing course above and then the step down to the next level is after the drain,

    Have you considered other options other than paving slabs. Mosaic pebble tiles can give a very nice finish. I have used them in similiar situations. Or concrete stencil if your on a budget. oh, and stick with the SBR.
