What's the most over the top price you've seen?

Talking to a client today and the subject got onto buying bags of rock salt grit. He told me he had looked and seen 25kg bags of rock salt grit advertised for £29inc vat !

He had also seen one of the industrial & safety supplies companies advertising 25kgs bags at £23inc + delivery.

So, what is the most OVERPRICED landscaping/gardening product or item you seen advertised in comparison to normal selling prices?

  • I do! I pay 30% of the book price on all machine hire. No Idea why they have those prices in the book I guess it's for the one off weekender chap. Also the book price for a deposit on a mini digger is £1300!

  • about a year ago Marshall Indian Sandstone went from £1200, to £1600 and then became "ethically sorced fairstone" and went up to £3200 for the same 45m sq quote within a few weeks, that was pretty harsh.

also I use travis hire all the time, pay a tiny fraction of book price, just there to mug idiots i guess, but then you look at HSS etc their prices are pretty brutal too.

got the sandstone off the net, who am i to put a hardworking 10 year old out of a job :)

  • i paid £1.359 a litre for diesel the other day, daylight robbery, when i got back in my area the diesel was £1.209 a litre. why are the prices so varied. its the same diesel comes from the same hole in the ground

  • in respect to winter salt i pay around £4.50 per 25kg bag.

    What does everyone else pay?

Perhaps, whoever gets it the cheapest could recommend their supplier?
