Tuesday evening my John Deere L120 threw it's drive belt. I got it back on finished the job and moved onto the next. Halfway through it, the blades stopped rotating. I checked the belt, it was on OK, and tried to fire up the deck again, but no luck. Fed up, I had to finish a 1/3 acre with my JX85.
I then tried to fix the L120. The seat sensor along with others were checked. All seemed OK. We decided it could be the deck on/off switch.
Wednesday evening using the JX85, cutting tall grass/clover, I got a burning smell and noticed smoke coming from the bottom of the mower. On tipping it over, I noticed a disc just above the blade had broken up.
I had to bring the Harry mower out of the dark to get me through until the John Deere is fixed, but what a mower. I'd forgotten how good it is!
Thursday, phoned the local John Deere dealer, who quoted me £103 for a clutch for the JX85, £48 for a belt for the L120.
I will probably have to take the L120 in for repair, but is there anywhere where I can get genuine JD parts cheaper? I would consider good quality aftermarket parts too!
