I have never used pointing compounds, so can't comment on them. My first thought was 'that's a large area', which means any mistake in estimating the price will be multiplied, so take care. Make sure just how much of the pointing has 'crumbled' and can be removed easily and how much is still hanging in there and will need to be ground out. Are the slabs still set sound or will some have to be re-set? We ground out about 90sq m.of frontage because the pointing was of such poor quality workmanship, we ground out with a 100mm, 200mm grinders and chisels. Cleaning out was done with our Stihl blower and when pointing I wetted directly between the slabs with weak bonding applied with a pressure spray directly between the slabs, keeping the edges dry. Good luck Paul, I'm sure you'll get plenty of advice on here.
I've used both the expensive brands such as Gtfk VDW 815/850, and cheap stuff from screwfix. They all work well and save SO much time! But you must remember to follow the instructions and keep the paving wet until you've finished - this helps move the stuff around and prevents staining. The cheaper stuff tends to smell a bit at first, and leaves more of a residue to wash off.
The last paving job was a mixed pattern sandstone 21 msq + sett edging, used two tubs of Gtfk 850, took an hour including mixing (a small sds drill with a paddle mixer). Done in the rain.
The residue doesn't seem to harm plants or lawns, either.
I would suggest you use Marshall's weatherpoint. I think TP are doing an offer on this at the moment.
3 Men should be able to point that comfortably in 2 days. Depending on the joints a tub should do between 6 and 10 sq m. If you are worried about the amount of resin you are going to use you could always give a cost excluding resin and then a price per tub
I like the idea of quoting the resin separately could save a lot of guesswork lol
