Here is one for the group. Where do I stand with paving staining
I am not going to name any companies because at the moment everyone has acted appropriately.
Last summer I laid some very expensive sandstone just before the hot weather, after 4 weeks the slabs looked ok to seal, so I carried this out after cleaning them down, I sourced recommendations from suppliers on all products who supplied, I read the instructions, tested and then 48 hours after sealed down, another 60 odd hours returned and in filled joints, a week later the havens opened after 12 hours of rainfall the client called me to site. on inspection 75% of the area was infected with 90% sever staining. The suppliers have looked and applied chemical to clean up, confirming it was iron oxides, however the bloody stuff will not clean up and I am faced with a now unhappy client who wants it taken up and replaced. I total understand his point, I would not be happy either. but where do I stand with costs after all I did everything by the book and followed recommendations. I am not even sure it is natural as the only pictures that match are either fertiliser damage or some sort of acid spill, but its every ware and neither where applied by us.

Did they have someone in to do a lawn treatment perhaps?
I wounded that to Darren but it was a new lawn, they say they didn't, but I do wonder if someone did? Cant prove it, so cant use it as an culprit.
With that in mind I know its daft but could household water softeners do it?
A picture would really help if possible Greg, we might get an idea of where the staining has come from. Even if you remove the staining, if there is some other activity going on that is causing it and you don't identify it, the problem could just come back again.
