Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh! In the right places it's fine, but rampaging through the borders it's pushing its luck.

Not so much a discussion, more of a cry for help.

    You need to dig the root tubers out to eradicate this troublesome weed. They can be a real pain but do go dormant in summer. Best to dig them out before they flower if possible as some set seed .

    If you can avoid other plants in the border, it 'responds well' to glyphosate :o)

    As you say, in a wild setting, perfect...but otherwise difficult to manage around the roots of other plants: especially herbaceous plants.
