Email from Liberia?

Hi allHas anyone else had an email from a lady in Liberia who seems to have got my contact details through LJN. Email basically said that she got my details from this site and would like to get to know me on a more personal level and please reply to the email. A photo of a youngish Liberian lady was attached. Needless to say I didn't reply - she didn't appear to be into gardening of any kind!!!!!!!

    Hi Paula

Unfortunately one of the sadder sides of the internet!

Sorry you've had to endure this spam!
  • Its part of the reason I don't put my Skype addy online anymore, some of the "offers" I have had on there would make a street walker blush!
  • Hi yes I had this too. Didn't open (having read the thread this morning about the horrors of email scams!).
  • I never get young Liberian lasses trying to force themselves upon me, just corrupt nigerian generals wanting to flush their ill gotten gains through my bank account. They won't even e-mail me a picture so I guess they must be real mingers.
  • Tell a lie. I've just got the e-mail. Didn't open it. Marked it as spam. Thanks for the heads up!

I've got a message too. A bit to far to Liberia for me to do a bit of gardening, so I think I'm going to have to decline her offer.

I get hundreds of spam emails a week; it's part and parcel of advertising on the internet. If you don't like the look of what's been received then just delete it.

But Phil, you'll miss finding all those lost relatives in Africa, China and beyond, not forgotting all those lotteries one enters and totally forget about. I've now got a really fascinating family tree developing - talk about racially diverse !!

Isn't there some report that estimates that of all the email spinning about on that Interweb thingy, over 90% of it is spam. That's a lot people wasting a lot of time, but I guess the 'rewards' are there when they hook someone with their guard down....
