  • I too use Abbey and they have told me there is a business 'manager' in the bank who I could see if I wanted too.
Have you asked in the bank to speak to someone??
Assuming you feel you want to speak to someone.
  • Hi Martin,
If it's of any interest, I've been with HSBC for years for both personal and business banking. I started out with them in Hong Kong (where they're based). Absolutlely brilliant. However, in UK they are just the Midland with a new badge. Initially they were very good. I had my own dedicated Business Manager who was very helpful. They gradually diluted to the point where I don't have a named representative at all and trying to get hold of anyone is nigh on impossible. If I were you, I would decide what services you think you're likely to need and go and visit a few to get a feel for their responses.
  • hi martin I use hsbc but its a online banking so very small charges ,they have been fine with me for 9 years or so but if you are a fsb member you get free banking with the coop so i am thinking of moving over as i like there ethical stance tridos are also a good green bank
  • I would strongly suggest staying with your bank due to the current financial climate. This way you have a trading history / relationship with them and it will help if you ever need to raise any finance. Most Abbey branches have access to a business manager you just need to seek them down.

However, if you are keen to move, I would suggest running two business accounts for about six months before closing the Abbey down.

I have found Llyods TSB to be okay but like all banks they are very sacred to loan money. Hopefully with the new cash injection from us the tax payers may just prompt them to start lending again.

    Wouldn't recommend Nat West!
  • Great cheers for all the advise guys

Might just stick with the abby at mo like suggested.

I now know who to go with if i do want to change.
