I have been in yellow pages 2 years,
1st year 1 job, I was in 3 books but advert was shit.
2nd year 2 books but advert in garden services and landscapers 2 jobs
I decided this year enough is enough. I get more work from tomson local, and its cheeper to advertise with them!
Also think about how many times you have used the Yellow Pages in the last year.
In my opinion YP has had it's day and their are a lot more cost effective forms of marketing available.

They have an attitude problem and are more interested in making you fit your business into their product rather than adapting the product to meet your needs.
They may work for some businesses but in recent years have proved an unessercary expense for ours, one which I cut over twelve months ago with no regrets.
it has found me about 10 jos in 3 years nothing huge but its better than nothing!!!
the actual yellow pages may be defunct but how many people use yell.com!!!
i know i still do for stuff!!!
Usually I advertise in community magazines (our one is the shoppers guide chesterfield - if you google it, it will give you a good idea) and church magazines. I find that these work really well for gaining new customers. I thought I'd try the yellow pages with my new advert sorry to go against the grain and I know how unpopular they are here on this forum.
After I placed the advert, I actually felt I'd made a huge mistake from November until March I was convinced they wouldn't work and I told my husband that I was such easy prey to the salesman - I was sucked in left, right and centre. I googled them over the winter period and everything I looked at so many people had a negative response about them - I thought I'd lost my money and felt I'd made a huge mistake and put it down to a big costly experiment.
Since the start I've had 5 new enquiries from it since the start of March when it came out. 3 of those enquiries have actually come good!! I have to be honest though, I didn't think it would work and my husband even said he wouldn't have done it either. I'll have made the money back that I've paid this year but I'm still holding judgement out on them until it comes up for renewal.
i had 1 job call all year from my yell.com advert and not 1 call from my advert in the book.
complete waste of money.
88% of searches in the UK are made on google, which leaves just 12% spread between yahoo, bing, ask and Yell.

I think that speaks volumes, thanks Landscape juice and all of you who have looked at the site.
At least with them you can control when and where your ads appear and change them if they don't work.#
I am using Yell but have only been using it for a year and am underwhelmed by the response so far.
