What's best micro clover or mycorrhizal?

Microclover - a miniature version of the naturally occuring lawn weed is presented as an eco-friendly alternative to normal lawns.  The theory being that it made it's own nitrogen and so kept itself and the surrounding grass green, without using fertilisers.

Green Velvet lawn seed contains mycorrhizal fungi which help the grass roots extract nutrients from the soil. The RHS endorse this product - an unusual move for them.

But which is best?

  • If you go for the microclover lawn and you get weeds in it how do you kill the weeds ?
  • i like to see clover in lawns as its nitrogen fixing plant so the lawn seed that fixes nitrogen sounds a great idea would love to see it growing in practice
