What etesia

Hi Having never used etesias before we have just got a large contract for a housing estate. The problem is the lawns have been left for a few months and our dear old 57s won't be any use. The mowing in normal conditions would normal take 3 men a day with the 57s ride one are out due to access, banks and anti football mounds ( large mounds of rubble builders cover up and seed and then give them a name)My question is what eteasia would  say would fit the job, We are after three, self propelled, Honda engine and used, Iam after spending approx £300 each at the moment oh and they have to be able to cut in very wet conditions.CheersMartin

I seriously doubt you are going to get an Etesia for £300.

You might be pushed for that as the cheap models on ebay and the likes are push pro 46's. I guess you will be looking at the 51 range though, maybe? I bet you would love to try the big 53 out. I really like that machine but I can only dream of using it as its far to big for my work.

  • Pro 46's usually sell for £200-300. My pro56 was £320, a recent good pro 51k went for £440. So yes, you'll get decent used machines for that price.

Won't you be better getting a large rough cut machine though? Will be quicker and overall cheaper for you.
  • Martin the Etesia would do the trick and check out Carters (re Harry the Cat) on ebay he has the more ex-lease machines than most, however seriously consider the Scag - see forum https://landscapejuice.ning.com/forum/topics/new-ride-on-mower?comme...

    http://members.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewUserPage&userid=...

As long as access isn't an issue the scag will handle reasonable bank work and will cut the area in a third of the time. The finish is unbelievable but it doesn't cut and collect. Have a chat with Harry and I am sure he will sort something out for you.
  • Thanks everyone

Dan.. The rough cut machine would be the better option the problem is thats what the previous gardeners used and thats the reason they got rid of them. Whats the 56 like on wet grass?

Phil..It only gives me the option to delete my post for some reason

Pro.. Which one handles the wet weather better

Graeme...Stranger ;-) Its not a cut and drop garden (Wish it was) Maybe we could use it on the first cut but after that its cut and collect. Thanks for the link though m8

once again thanks for the help
  • If you're not collecting why not go for a Ferris, 32 or 36 inch cut fits most places, if that's too big why not try a used Victa 21 inch cut, very fast and rugged. Also is two stroke so can run on slopes. If collecting try used Etesia, brilliant when wet.
  • The 56 is good on wet grass. I mainly keep it by for clearing overgrown lawns. Saves a lot of time over using a brushcutter. I often find clearing 2-3ft high grass with the brushcutter results in a lot of long tough grass winding around the strimmer head and causing problems, but the etesia chomps through it no problem.

there was one for sale on ebay recently, the guy misbranded it but it may still be on.
