Wacker plate

Hi folks thanks for receant opionions on harrow/leveller but wandering any reccomendations on a wacker plate for average use have been looking around and usually looking in around 250. based in NI so delivery could be a concern.

Also wandering what anyones opinion clay fire block paving sealer looked at a few suppliers but need an impregnating sealant raher than surface sealer (looked at kingfisher & smartseal but bound to be good alternatives for sealing and enhancing colour)

Thanks again folk for receant tips

  • unfortunately whacker plates by their very nature need to be well made so therfore expensive. The cheap ones (under 500) will either have useless compaction force or shake to pieces in no time. In my opinion it is just one of the tolls you can't really go cheap on.

I have a belle pcx 400 and would highly recommend it but also the MBW plates seem pretty good and are a good bit cheaper.

  • We have a pretty old, actual, 'Wacker'.  It had to have a new belt about 8 months ago and whilst it was away we hired one made by someone else (can't remember who).  the hire one was rubbish, nowhere near as much  compaction from a nearly new machine.   I guess there are risks in buying these second hand without first trying but, i think, Wacker are the best.  Unless of course you have to roll Breedon Gravel when you definitely need a roller, or you have a trench to compact, for which, a jumping foot is much better!

  • Yes used one of the really old ones not to long ago, great machine but seriously weighty, decided to go with a  Evopower 5.5hp model for what ill be doing at reasonable price locally 300 quid.

    cheers

  • after using many wacker plates of all makes and sizes. I feel the best are MBW available from seddons of bolton online and over the counter. start price around £600

  • wacker ,

  • Thinking about getting one of these too. What's your opinion of it after a few month's use?
