Van Break in.

Hi allI just thought id post this to alert you all, I have just had my van brokern into. this is the second time in as many months, both times by breaking the pasanger quater light window (transit) I guess this is the weak spot to get in.I have had stolen from the van:Stihl BG85 BlowerStihl fs55 brushcutterStihl km55r kombi unit as a 135 deg hedge cutter. If any one sees them or gets offerd them pleas let myself and the police know. The blower has a blob of yellow paint by the on off switch, and the screw type nut to accept the vacume system, also the BG85 Badge plate is missing. The hedge cutters hand guard is brokern so to is the dead mans handle, it is also a bugger to get started. If you look at the bar there is a bulge in the metal too, youd get what I mean if you saw them.the strimer has yellow paint on it too and the shaft has a slight left hand bend to it. it also has a simgle shoulder strap not the full harness. Many thanks Kieran Ouzel Landscapes

  • Almost certainly from the local "pikey" sites!! I'm only a couple of miles from you, in Dunstable, and they've targetted me twice......... I always back the van up against the garage doors, put a portable pir alarm in the driving compartment..... the van is also deadlocked so that if the windows broken, they can't open the doors.

I am so sorry to hear this. It happened to me many times and I know how distressing it is.

Could you please add the details to the stolen equipment list.
  • That is bad news....I had mine done last year and it wasn't a good experience..!

If they have come back then you need to up your security as you are still an easy target for them, dead locks, pir's maybe even lock stuff together in the van too...

Oh and don't forget it might just be easier for them to take the van instead so a steering Disclock might help too ;-)

    Good luck
  • Sorry to hear this m8

Are you insured? And would a bulk head have stopped this?
  • Terrible news Kieran,

This is positively my worst nightmare, its a pity these thieving runts exist and more so operate under the cover of stealth and darkness,

I swear to God I'd be put away If i ever caught any vermin tampering with any of my kit.

I have a blower of which I'll bring with me to the HLS, its yours if you need it, sorry it cant be more , but every little helps.

    Chin up man .
  • A van vault might help if you need to store tools overnight and a hidden imobiliser switch to stop the engine being started.

I have spoken to Kieran and he is understandably upset by this - it's the 8th time he has been targeted - details now added this to Landscape Juice this morning - Stihl gardening equipment stolen from Dunstable in Bedfordshire

I've now coordinated all of the Landscape Juice entries on theft and linked to a Google Map.

Used in conjunction with Landscape Juice as a news outlet and the online stolen equipment form, we can in time, build up a powerful portfolio and matrix of where these thefts occur - this might help the Police and anyone who has lost a machine.

    Hi,

    Bad news. The Sc**bags.

I know what it is like from first hand experience.

I know it's a bit like 'after the horse has bolted' , but this thread maybe of some interest and is what caused Phil to generate the Stolen Equipment list...

I've already done this but it's going to take a little time to populate and strengthen on Google.
