As businesses, landscapers and gardeners face so many external challenges...not least the weather. This article Journal - No Splendor in the Grass; Landscaping Companies Wither in Severe Summer Weather - gives an insight into how record weather has impacted on their businesses. "Meanwhile, landscapers say the extreme heat is prompting many consumers to put off investing in planting, mulching, fencing and the installation of patios and walkways. Such services, which landscaping and related businesses provide, are more popular when yards are plush and green." "Kevin Culbert, an analyst for research firm IBISWorld Inc., expects revenues to decline 4.7% this year for landscape-services companies as customers do their own work. "Not everybody can do plumbing but everybody can get outside and mow their lawn," he says."

    Hi Phil
    we have alot of problems with drought here- and currently bush fires- it doesn't seem to be putting off people wanting to create a nice garden tho'- most of my jobs have been from people who need professional advice to get the right trees and plants in (drought and heat tolerant and frost resistant) and to advise and help with planting, mulching and installing irrigation- basically to give the garden the best chance in the difficult conditions and not waste money on stuff that won't grow!
