Cutting down? You mean just cut them down then walk away? £50 :)
Ask on arbtalk, you might get some specific info, but it's up to you to decide how long it will take and what your costs for the job are. It's the kind of job we can't give a price for as we can't see the trees, how dense they are, trunk diameter, access etc.
You have forestry experience so assume you are qualified and also have experience of how much work is involved in this.
I obtained my chainsaw licence 3months ago after 4yrs without 1 after leaving forestry.
haven't priced on a job like this before.
trunk diameter are 2-2.5ft. Not very dense. access is good. got to take the rubbish away.
You need more than CS30 - CS31 if the trunks are over 380mm. Once you obtain the chainsaw tickets there is no expiry date on them so surely you are still qualified? Might be worth checking as it's relevant for insurance purposes.
Yes - CS32 needed.
Check you PL insurance, most are limited to 20-25ft fells unless you have a full tree works insurance.
Waste ? - how do you intend to process waste?
Chipper Hire ? - May need NTPC Woodchipper Competency ticket for insurance purposes (not a legal requirement, but can be insisted upon by insurer).
If unsure, Sub it, act as groundsman, watch it, time it and learn from it for next time....
You may decide to do this outside of your 'insurance'. That would be a very dangerous approach IMHO
I went and did a refresher course as it was 4years since i picked a chainsaw up for this type of work.
Fully insured as as have to provide proof to the council. Thanks for your help.

Thanks for the good advice. I intend to take the waste back to my yard and chip it. Can't take the chipper with me as it is not towable.

Gareth, is it practical to take 150foot worth of cut trees from one site to another?
Are you planning on having the customer foot that cost - ie time? That was never mentioned in your OP.
The time element alone would suggest hiring in a chipper, let alone the fuel and frustration etc !
I've stayed away from suggesting a price, because I don't know your cost base or local hire charges.
Hire out a 6" towable chipper, fell and chip on site, 6 hours work with a 2 man team, i would do it for approx £300 providing i could keep the firewood.
Its not ideal but can pass the cost on to the customer. Most of the wood can go to my mate next door for his burner so can make an extra quid or 2 there.

Blimey, that's a whole lot less than you pay for a tree surgeon around my area! In fact about a third once you take out the chipper hire.
