ThirtyFortyNine Email

Hi all

Did anyone bother to email ThirtyFortyNine to ask for their details to be removed from their database. I did and got a stroppy reply along the lines of:

'Sorry for the obvious severe distress our single email obviously caused you, your details will be removed from our database'

Jeremy

Sounds like sour grapes to me.

  • He said that to you in an email! That is very impolite and totally unprofessional. What's his name again Jeremy what?

Am I right in saying this chap is trying to sell exhibition space?

Are we all taking notes here Landscape Juicer's?

Jeremy 'whatshisface' from ThirtyFortyNine is sending unneccessarily impolite emails to our members.

    Hi Helen,

Not sure what his surname is but Phillip Voice had a discussion with him about the emails and didn't get anywhere with him - not very cooperative apparently.

    That's not nice.

Paul I take it your email was a polite one and the reply was this.

    Hi Stuart

My email just asked for my details to be removed and I pointed out that i didn't appreciate being junk mailed and didn't think it was right for company's like his to trawl the internet collecting email addresses for their own use.  I don't think that was particularly rude - just firm :)   by the way its Paula!!!  :D

  • Who schedules a landscaping show in April anyway?

It's not like we'll have anything else to be doing.

Sorry Paula!! Just felt it was fair to ask how you put the email to have such a response. My mistake for asking.

    Hi again Stuart

No problem - didn't mean to sound  abrupt or anything  :)  You were quite right to ask about my email to him. If i'd sent an offensive message to him, he'd be justified in his reply. x

  • i havent messaged them to be removed, i'll just manually delete messages if they arent needed. if they get anoying i'll add them to junk filter.

i've never been to a trade show what are they like? are they worth a visit?

  • i didn't get anything from them so not appropriate for me to email.

I am expecting something back from eFig on this shortly.

Jeremy Storey-Walker is not a member here. He works for Thirty forty Nine, the event organisers for the eFig show in April.

BTW...I didn't mention that I'd also received this email and I didn't register my details with them either.

"The regulations say that organisations must have prior consent to send unsolicited marketing material by electronic mail to individual subscribers, unless they have obtained the details during the course of a sale, or negotiations towards one, and they give you the opportunity to object in every message.

" If you are an individual subscriber receiving unsolicited marketing by electronic mail, and the organisation hasn't stopped even though you've tried to opt out, you can complain to the ICO. "

Just to give Jeremy his dues, - he did send a very apologetic email to me, when I sent him this email request

Please remove me from your mailing list for the following reasons -

I did not ask you to add me to any list.

Even if I had, I would not appreciate an email sent to me with no opt out facility

Do you really think that anyone in the Landscape industry will have time to go to a midweek show in the busiest month of the year?

I think you are on to a loser, with both your method of advertising, and what you are promoting.

I would suggest you read the following article about why.
