it seems to make a bit of a mess on the drive and lawn (what's left of it) it also leaves a big channel at the edge why would you want that ? maybe a before and after photo would help
.............. well that looks a horrendous machine to do a simple job!! What a mess.
If you take the time to look deeper you'll see what it can do......
I'd suggest that's a bed or trenching blade in use.
Like the different blades available : http://www.turfteq.com/landscaping-equipment/power-edger/ and multi-use of machine.
Given its availablity to be hired, it can deal with quite a few jobs.
We've used a competitor product to get us out of a hole once or twice.
So, always worth looking twice before writing it off ....you may find a solution to a future job.
'adds it to the huge mental list of machines I want' :)
Why does there have to be so many cool tools and machines in the world...
Me too, Graham !
If you're into 'all aspects' then machinery like this can become a necessity and a real possibility, but you need the foresight to see it........
Hope the additional photos give a better picture of the finished edges.
That looks better........... the original picture didn't do the machine justice.
that looks better and with Gary's post it makes sense possibly the wrong blade used, can you adjust the depth of cut for the edger as it could be a nightmare on a solid path edging if you do not get it right if its cutting on a curve
If you follow the link I provided, above - it states:

Hi guys, I have just seen the comments. Somehow, I managed to pick the wrong photo! First, it was a trench, not an edging, and was dug in order to install Rite-Edge Pro (I think it’s now called Rite-L-Edge) metal lawn edging. The grass and gravel was a mess before the trench was dug!
My colleague picked up the negative comments and replaced the offending photo with some better stuff!
Using the different blades shown in the illustration that Gary kindly posted, the TurfTeq machine will:
The walk-behind tractor also powers the TurfTeq Surface Preparation Rake, Power Broom, Rough-Cut Mower and Snow Plough.
The blade depth is adjustable from approx 1/2" to 5". Available to purchase or rent from ourselves; also to rent from a small number of progressive hire companies.
I have attached a couple of additional photos that are not on our website.
