Tanaka discontinued

Morning all

i bought a tanaka TBC2390 strimmer a couple of years ago following recommendation on here and it's been great. Went online to pick up another today and notice it's discontinued.

Any recommendations from your collective experience for something similar around the same price (straight shaft, regular maintenance work rather than cutting back long stuff, around £250)

Also wondering people's views on the longevity of strimmers. Asked at my local place about servicing and the lad had said by the time you factor in labour and parts it's almost worth just buying a new strimmer........

I use Stihl kombi km130r I have two machines one is 10yrs old the other 7yrs, I've had the straight shaft strimmer attachment for 14yrs all still going strong. Them engine's have more than enough grunt.

I service, maintain and repair all my machines. I have long realized how silly it is to bin machines just because of the cost of labour and parts at the dealer, making it cheaper to by New. Just a waste of perfectly good machine.

  • I've been using a Sharp strimmer( Mitsubishi 27cc engine ) its used everyday,  when its was newer going on 20years ago its was used to cut monthly lawn cuts  when we did contract work for the council ( awfully jobs glad I don't so them now ) its had a rough life but still going , it had new carb last year . Its never really serviced just clean the air filter and spark plug and its good to go.

The equivlent now is the Danarm VS256S - TLE27 they cost Around £300 -350 , its has a decent guard on as well which doesn't get in the way.
