I know someone once said the Stihl ones were Nilfisk manufactured ones in the stihl colours, may be true?. I have been looking myself but cant offer any experience of the Karcher or Stihl ones but had a Bosch one and looking to replace with stihl. I like the idea of the reel hose holder as opposed to loops and loops of hose getting tangled when in use
I'd stick with Karcher........ they're the "experts" on them. Their really cheap ones.........£100 or even less........... are really only meant for very light domestic use and I suspect any bad reviews will come from people that use these machines for frequent heavy duty use that they were not designed for.
I bought a bottom of the commercial-range Karcher, rather than a top-end Domestic. Very happy with it, and I have since added a long lance and a rotating-patio-brush (which has some sort of magic venturi means of getting the water, after use, into a corrugated waste pipe (either into bucket, or a nearby flowerbed).
But I find Karcher a minefield of products and parts. The rotating-bush device I got fits different models, and choice of part no. and add-on-nozzles depended on "the colour of the pressure washer hose" because models are not definitive, the supplier said it was a nightmare of "returns" because customers cannot (and cannot be expected to) figure out the right combinations.
is your 'magic venturi' the same as a 'karcher mudsucker'? How do you get on with it?
Sorry, don't know about the 'karcher mudsucker', the model I have is the "KARCHER FRV 30 Floor Cleaner"
The blurb says
"With the integrated, automatic suction of the waster water the FRV 30 allows more efficient surface cleaning for indoor and outdoor usage. The inconvenient flushing of the surface after cleaning is not necessary anymore because the waster water can be drained off well-directed through the included 5m suction hose"
and it works as described ... I haven't tried it on a tiled vertical surface yet, but supposedly it will collect waste water there too.

i have not come accross them before do they pump the water away or is it all gravity
Its a pump ... the jets spinning / cleaning under the triangular hood create the "power" to pump the dirty water away. I assumed it uses a venturi, but might be some other Physics.
that looks an impressive bit of kit. How does it get on with yorkstone-type slabs with pointing to worry about or the classic block paving with extra mossy bits?
I'm using a karcher K2 domestic but simply as a jet wash. The T150 head is absolutely useless. When it dies I'll be looking for a pro model so any hints?
Works well on my patio which is riven slabs (Indian sandstone), York would probably be more uneven? ... on one of the videos I watched it was used on a very uneven cobbled surface which it seemed to do just fine (both the cleaning, but also leaving it "relatively dry" in terms of waste water removal).
I find the myriad of Karcher models a nightmare to try to make a choice from, and all I can say is that I'm happy with the model that I have. On of my requirements was an extended lance, and I have that too (to reach greenhouse roof glass)

That's all great advice, thanks guys.
