STIHL GTA 26 - Replacing the saw chain - Bing video
i never had one but this migh help
Release the side screw clamp, pull the chain bar until the chain is suitably taut and re-tighen scew clamp.
It has no separate adjustment and really is a basic system/method.
Ah ok,
I 'v been doing that but it seems to be getting more regular that I gotta do it.. I am giving it oil regularly enough too.. I guess your right, it's a basic enough tool. I could have sworn someone posted a tip here before though..
have a good weekend!
Might be a build up of detritus around / under the chain bar that's causing it not to 'clamp' well or possibly a sh*gged chain ....
I release the nut on the chain, hang it upside down by the blade (battery out) then tighten the chain at that point. Ive had no problems with that method
Hi Adam,
yeah that how I do it but the chain seems a bit too loose. I will bring it back to the shop and enquire as Brian recommends .
thanks
paul
where did you buy it from, this is why I buy from a local shop. means any issues i can go in person
Hi Barry,
yeah I'll bring it back and get their tuppence worth!!

I think we all have the same issue with it. As you use the tool the chain heats up & expands, the same as any chainsaw. I find just loosening it off & dropping it upsdie down, hanging by the bar & then tightening works.
I guess because it is such a small length of chain/bar it becomes more noticeable quicker than a full size machine.
Keeping it oiled regularly seems to help, just a couple of spots either side of the bar.
Thanks Neill,
Ill try that tip the next time I use it..
