I don't think there is any such law to be honest. But can understand a neighbour feeling aggrieved at the sound as some people see their weekends as sacred (not me, I work weekends also) It's another win for the cordless gear for me due to reduced noise output. Although that is not exactly silent by any means. This also applies to evening work due to the long days at the moment, some people would resent garden equipment noise at 7 or 8pm also especially if they are enjoying the tranquility of their own garden at that time rather than sat indoors
Although my customer has told me to carry on starting at eight I feel I should probably adjust my jobs around as I don’t want to cause an issue for him when I have left his premises,,thanks for your input
Early starts depend on the local council - see here but it may change depending on area you work: https://www.wycombe.gov.uk/pages/Environment/Noise-pollution/Constr...
Thanks for the heads up nick
People can lodge a noise pollution complaint for any time, but typically council will use these rules as a yardstick to assess what's reasonable.
For us, it's 7.30am on a Saturday, but looks like yours is 8am👍

Thanks for that info Gary as this issue happened in Central Bedfordshire the information you sent is apt.in all honesty I probably will adjust my times a bit because I don’t want this to become an issue for my customer.
I took the lead from Nick's post as I could see from your profile your approx location.
Having had considerable building works at home in the past, I made sure I knew the hours for my location so as not to upset neighbours.
yes if you can alter your round to make it later then it would avoid future conflict, regardless of the rights and wrongs of the legislation. I have one long standing customer who happens to be one of these Christian types, so in over 20 years of cutting their lawn I have never once atttempted to do it on a Sunday, for example
I don't like starting any noisy machine up until after 9am on a Saturday, I personally I think it's rude because if I'm not working the weekend I want to lay in til 9am.
I've got a garden in a corner plot, both neighbors either side give me regular ear ache. So irritating!
Working on a Saturday? I haven't done that for nearly 20 years when I started employing staff so now I don't have to!
