Spider invasion in van

basically from carrying around bags of tree / hedge cuttings over the past month or so my van has been overtaken by spiders. the cab is a mass of webs and it doesn't seem to make any difference how many spiders i swat away by hand so i'm basically looking for a way to get rid of them.is there an equivalent of fly spray for spiders ?

  • I suggest you keep the passenger seat clear for them to get comfy, might as well let them in instead of fighting an eternal losing battle :)
  • I have taped up every gap and vent i can find on the bulk head between the load bay and cab on my van and still some of the buggers get through! every morning without fail a couple of new webs have appeared. I unceremoniously(is that correct!) dump them out the window when ever they dangle within reach.
Worst ive had was a whole nest of young ones were amongst some waste and when i opened up the back of the van, they were all over the place, and quite a few made it into the cab, what joy!!!
  • Not keen on spiders. Bit of an arachnophobe. I think fly spray will kill them if that's the way you want to go. A few minutes ago I was tidying some plant pots and one of them had a wasps nest in. You should have seen me move. I'm alergic to their stings. :-(
  • The only thing that I have found that works is putting a handfull of conkers around the cab. Spiders apparently can't stand the smell of them. Luckly one on my clients kids collected a whole bag full last year and left them outside, took loads over the spring and they still work treats.
  • I agree with Ian on the conker trick...works a treat.
We get loads of spiders in our house and leave conkers along the skirting boards and in the corners of the rooms...seems to work. It makes for good conversation too...

There's also a spray to deter spiders...rather than kill them...it has horse chestnut in it; http://www.google.co.uk/products?q=no+more+spiders+spray&um=1&a...
