Sourcing a rhododendron

Dear All

I have been asked by a customer to source an evergreen Rhododendron with bright red flowers in late spring with a long flowering period. Interesting foliage would also be an advantage.

The budget for this needs to be under £200 incl Vat and delivery. The pot size would ideally be something between 50 and 100l.

I know that this might be a tall order but not impossible. I am either looking for someone to ideally supply me direct or to be able to put me in touch with a nursery that can fulfill the above

Many thanks in advance

-Nick

Nick, This place is based just down the road from us in Farnham - its' on the Farnham - Hindhead Road A287. Not a million miles away if you wanted to visit.

It's called Millais Nursery and is tucked away in Churt, Surrey. Its a totally Rhodo/Azela specialist which we have used before. I worked on an RHS show garden and they were used for that.

I've got their old list and would appear they may have options for you...Can't remember their website, but search on Millais Nurseries.

    Hope that helps

    Hi Found their website:

    http://www.rhododendrons.co.uk/ (Bl***y obvious really ;-))

I was looking for the nursery name. Seems they have a great plant finder on the right hand side of the home page which may make your search easier...

Thank you for the recommendation for Millais nursery. I visited last week and was very impressed with the quality of plants and knowledgeable & helpful staff.

I only went to get one plant and came back with four in total! I would definitely use this nursery again and would not hesitate to recommend them

Millais Nursery is on my old stomping ground.

If anyone visits, be sure to mention Phil Voice to David Millais. David took over from his father (both are well travelled collecting Rhododendrons from around the world.

If you love to see azaleas and rhododendrons then it's worth making a point of visiting Millaise Nursery in May/June.

List of Rhododendrons and azaleas in the UK.
