Single species turf for shady areas

Good afternoon All

i have been asked by a customer for my help and opinion  fir turfing a shaded area.

He has found this product:

https://www.turfonline.co.uk/shadesman/

it is a single species turf and I have absolutely no experience.

Does anybody have any experience of this product or single grass species turf.

Many thanks in advance

John

I overseed shady areas that have gone thin or bald. Seems to me far more choice of seed varieties than turf ... but no good for a client that wants instant solution.

Personally I hate turf - environmentally speaking. Strip an inch of topsoil off a fenland field every couple of years and transport it across the country ... and years ago when i did use turf it was so full of Nitrogen it looked ridiculous patched-in to my existing lawn, and until rooted grew so fast that by the time I could get on it with a mower it was hard work to get it back down again.

I might be a voice of one in this forum though :)

It mentions limitations depending on how much sunlight area receives , then recommends overseeding with shadesman grass seed .

Personally i would just try the shadesman seed to save the time and expense of turfing if the seed is good it will soon catch up .

I have a similar area i seed every spring with Johnsons anytime shady seed which germinates before the tree canopies block the light and thrives all summer  but the customers look after the garden until November but dont remove the fallen leaves on the lawn which kills the grass so i get called back in March to re seed the area again even though i hint at them removing the leaves .
