Show Gardens.

Well the title says it all really. Show gardens, have any of you done one, been involved in one or got any experience in them. I have always done what I do but it was going to Chelsea one year that made me want to pursue a more horticultural element to my work and its always been my dream to do something like it so how would I, or any other aspiring show garden designer go about it, what are the logistics, the paper work involved and how would I even get involved?

  • Yeah sorry Fraser, I honestly didn't mean to sound like an arse, as I said earlier I am sat in a room with a few women and trying to pretend that I am all ears so my reply was curt and it wasn't meant to be.
I read through a couple of threads but didn't see anything like you said, a link would be lovely, thanks and again, sorry.

  • I have helped on numerous gardens, 4 RHS and 3 years at the ideal home show! Working on them is fun long hours but fun, if you get the right team.

On the organisation side, as I was subbed in for the construction I don't know too much, but from being around the office when some of the organising happens it seems very very stressful. For most gardens you will need a sponsor which is not as easy as it seems.

Sourcing materials can be a mare, I had to help with that once. I was not easy!

On the whole though it is very rewarding but very addictive.
  • Thanks Keiran, the sponsor I can find easily, its the general running of the things and the logistics that I am having problems getting my head around so any info you have about your part in it will be appreciated, thanks.

  • Not sure to be honest, I'd like to start with a smaller one but obviously I'd ultimately like to go for Chelsea, I know its a cliche but its where my passion for horticulture started.
