  • I am replying to this because Dale are working together on various projects at the moment which span three counties, so want to keep this post 'live'.

With the volume of work currently coming in, we would welcome skilled/semi skilled landscapers to help us out on a casual basis. Please contact either of us and we will get back to you asap. Ta.
  • Hi Kerrie

I've been meaning to contact you as we live just up the road from each other. I realise you work with Dale but we are now offering our landscaping services to other designers.

Let me know if you want to meet to discuss things further.

  • Just to keep it going, --- Dale, I don't know if there is a going rate is there? - why don't you put yourself in the employee's place and ask how much you'd expect/accept - and then ask him - he might well be happy with less, which would put you in the pleasant position of bing able to give him a bit more if you like. Last time I had unskilled help I would have given my man £10 but he seemed more than happy with £8.

In my early days I worked for a couple - the only folk to ever offer/give me a rise - (from £4 to £5 in 1983!) They had loads of 30ft+ conifers and when he was in the mood he'd come out and cut one down and I'd dig out the stump in the week. Not difficult - they had no tap root - trench all round and go underneath. I did 14 of them before he, and then me, lost our jobs. He had a sweet-chestnut wood at the back and in a clearing, once a year, I'd have a huge fire - the nuts that came down after a couple of years were enormous. I made "mont blanc" - soften the nuts in vanilla milk - push through a sieve and cover in whipped vanilla cream (sorry).
    - Anyway, one time I took a mate along to help dig one of these stumps - we split the money and went down the pub, - now that's the way to do it!
