Where do 'landscape' professions stand when it comes to CDM Regs with regards statutory Welfare Facilities.  We are sharing canteen, toilets, etc with the main contractor on a site we are working on just now but wonder what others do on their own sites?

Are we exempt from statutory compliance as not being under CDM?

Do you cost this in?  How many days would you need to be on a site to warrant bringing portaloos in?  Washing facilities?  We have never supplied them ourselves as we generally are not on same site for long durations but I was quizzed about it yesterday by a site manager where we will be doing a big chunk of tree planting?

What are your thoughts please.

  • We get a portaloo in for the duration of our projects - the cost isn't oo onorous, usually £20/week which includes it being emptied once a week. If the client has an outside loo I'll give them the opportunity to save the portaloo costs if they let us use theirs

  • Thanks guys. That all makes a lot of sense. Next time we need to include these provisions I'll be sure to include your suggestions.

    Thanks again.
