Removal of inactive accounts

I have deleted 15-20 accounts in the last three weeks due to inactivity and I intend to continue sweeping through (the process might take several weeks). Accounts removed thus far go back to 2008. I am being careful not to remove anyone who has previously made a positive contribution but, for whatever reason, has not used their account recently: it's important that the network should remain at their disposal for the future. There are however some borderline cases and it's possible they will be removed during the sweep.

  • This is a good idea, this site may boast having over 2000 members (apologies if this figure is incorrect) but only about 5-10% of these people actually make any contribution to the forum. It is better to have a small number of active, participating members than loads that never actually use the site.

would it not be an idea to post or if not already message the account which is due to be deleted to make sure there was not another reason for inactive use.

i know it sounds hard but it could be that some one has not set the link and just forgotten the name of the site, i have only just mannaged to get back to a site i used for keeping upto date with pc stuff yet it was a site i used all the time and just never set a link, thankfully they sent me a message weeks back with a news letter thing which prompted me to get back on and set a link while i had the chance.

  • I think that is a very sensible suggestion Neal.

    Hi Neal

This is something I am actively doing.

The only people to have been removed (now getting on for 30) are those who joined between June and September 2008 and have shown no signs of activity.
