  • £1400
  • Whatever price you come out with Robin be careful about neighbours / mates. I do a special "mates rate" - quote 20% higher and offer 15% discount as you will be at their beck and call for days if not weeks afterwards!
  • he phoned today and surprise said : £800 is too much for me / i cant afford it (ive not had chance to drop sample of yet , but i dont think it would make any difference)

i quoted £800 , then said i could do it £100 less if its only 25 slabs >>
  • Like I said - special "mates rates" :-)
  • I'm glad you posted those comments gentlemen, in my drive contracting days of yore, I always refused to do jobs for family and friends (especially family, you can choose your mates) which my Mother found rather sniffy of me and always rejected my attempted explanations - I will be printing a copy of this thread and posting it to her! (She is 79 so not very web savvy)
  • PRO
I have a Toshiba TV sitting in my lounge that cost me about £3k. My wife offered our services to her Sister in return for the tele. 7 days work and materials later....

I could have picked up the latest model and had change for less at the time.

  • I have no problems working for friends, family and neighbours.
I would rather do the work than give it to someone else, most people are willing to pay the going rate and if they don't want to they are welcome to go elsewhere.
