"I will not need to wrap in membrane due to slop of lawn taking water / silt away fast."
- I would as pea gravel will silt up over time, you can't seriously think that water is going to push all silt etc through 11-22m of gravel do you? It may take years to silt up but with fabrics you will add years and years to the drain's life for not much more outlay :)
3 days seems a long time for trenching 105m to 500mm (not knowing access problems etc)- Maybe best to get an owner/operator in on a price than hire machine and DIY. I rarely drive myself now as they are much faster than me and cost less :)
Cost wise the biggest factor is how much a day you are worth - only you know that!
Are you installing a land drain or a french drain, what is it draining into ?
As far as I am aware its a French drain (Henry French) brought more into the 21st century with the addition of perforated pipe.
I will be bringing the pipe out into open land (short length of none perforated pipe) at the bottom of the slopping garden were it can run freely away.
We have been looking to do a recycled car tyre French drain, square in shape over a membrane! We are looking for pilot !
Any takers?
