outdoor furniture

I was wondering whether landscapers and garden designers have relationships with outdoor furniture manufacturers. In particular, when you specify a job do you think about the furniture such as a garden bench or seating set? And do you specify it in a jonAs an outdoor manufacturer, we have a relationship with a few landscapers and designers (they get a discount on our furniture and supply it on to their clients) and we make stuff to order (e.g. built in seating, pergolas, planters). While of interest to some, other landscapers or designers like to leave their clients to choose furniture, if any. I was wondering what peoples views are on this

  • Not sure if you have read any of my 'where to source ' sections on this site, but I try to help find different and unusual things for designers in all sorts of products and also to help companies with getting their products noticed. It is on the first page when you log onto the website on the left hand side.

When designing a garden, I do think about all the 'accessories' needed ie. benches, tables, pots, gazebos etc and research as much information so that I can give the client a choice of product and budget.I think of the garden as a whole and it is important to me to have everything in keeping.

I do have some good relationships with some suppliers but I find that due to different requests at times from clients I cannot always buy from those I wish. Obviously I try to advise and recommend but at the end of the day the client has to choose unless you are very lucky from the start and they will accept what you offer them.

I understand it is hard to some businesses to give a discount to a designer as it may be a one off order . As a designer though it is a good idea to strike up a relationship with a company that can offer a bespoke service which can be tailored to different needs.

Not sure if this answers your question!
  • Thanks claudia,

I'll go check out the section!

I'll get a brochure sent to you as well if you dont mind - if your address is not on your profile, please let me have it. Have you seen our website? its www.thedalerushworkshop.co.uk.

    We do bespoke work.

We dont mind giving discounts to designers - from our perspective, they fufill an important role and are involved with a potential customer at a time when that customer might be thinking of buying outdoor furniture

  • hi michael
we also sell to lots of designers on behalf of there clients, we give a small discount if possible ,the only thing is that you get work specified but furniture ext is often the last thing too go in and the last thing left in the money pot sometimes so we start of with six or seven things and end up delivering two lol.
