New website - opinions and HELP!

I've finally finished my website look - just need to work on tweaking SMO SEO etc.

Please could you take a look.

I work in Google Chrome, and I'm really pleased with it. However, it looks awful in IE9 as it insists on highlighting images and iframes as URL's with a border (it looks like). Anybody out there in juice land know how to force it to stop using this behaviour?

OK forget the issue with IE - I've solved it with a bit of code.

Now, just opinions if you would be so kind :)

The Blog content is just something I've copied and pasted for now, to check page formatting etc.

    (Oh and the code was

    abbr, img, object,
    a img,:link img,:visited img,
    a object,:link object,:visited object
    { border:0 }

stored in the style sheet (css) if anyone was wondering)

Cheers Craig, it was a bugger to do and runs a little slow, but I like it ;)

  • you really need a nice pleasant green/colourful picture on the front/home page...........

  • I would respectfully suggest you revise your home page, as a potential customer it doesn't tell me how your services benefit me. It is all about DC Landscapes and is in that respect feature rich.

It is considered to be a good policy to use the word you as many as six times to the words we, us or the name of your company. A good picture would be a good addition.

The content on your home pag may be better on an about us page perhaps with photos of D and C.

    Thanks Phil,

I appreciate the comments. I think you are right, I'll migrate the home page to an about us page and create a more "you" drive home page.

I'm working on images at the moment that I want to use for the website, but figured I'd make it my live site as it is better, in my opinion, than my last site. This site is very SEO/SMO driven which should promote us better in searches in google etc.

  • Agree,  people who find you on the internet are more likely to read content if their attention is drawn to page by relevant picture.

Home page draws potential customer in , save the detail till later,  and then once you have their interest you can move them into detail of what you do.

Are you limited as to number of pages you can have, could have different pages for your specialities , one for say maintenance, one for landscaping etc with pictures as well as seperate gallery page.

Having said that site looks professional and will create good impression with potential clients.

  • I agree with the comments about pics.... as they say pictures asay a 1000 words!!  if people have found your site they are looking for your type of people they want to see what you can/have done not what you say you can do.

    Otherwise not bad matey

Cheers. I'll work on a new home page shortly and make the current home page an "about us" page.

I am only limited on the number of tabs along the top, but can provide other forms of navigation via the services page. Perhaps, as you say, some individual images and detail pages for landscaping and maintenance.

I'm working on images for the main pages, something that keeps the professional look, but have the gallery to really show works completed.
