I've not used it but have seen this for the kaaz/lawnflite etc mowers

We have a lovely little Honda 536 mulching mower with a side shute. Had it about 5 years now, runs very sweet and gets a fair bit of use. Mulches very well if the grass is a little too long for collecting and if a stage further on, the side shute will spread the cut grass, rather than leaving clumps. It's very light and has a drag mat with will leave stripes.
Certainly not a full on commercial mower, but certainly one I would recommend to join your fleet at under £500.
Hi Colin.....on the side shoot cut, lets say
you cut the grass weekly would the finish
be as good as if you had done it with mulch cut ?
Yes it is, but of course it scatters the cuttings, so you may see some. Weekly cuts as a mulcher, the cuttings are brushed into the grass by the 'drag mat' and are invisible. I'm not on commission by the way ;-). If it's any recommendation, we have 3 mulchers, a Honda HRH 536HX and a 30" Torro, but have to remind my lads NOT to take the little Honda out and give it a rest!
Cheers Colin...if the drag mat was taken off (if possible)
do you think it would effect the performance
the machine would be for my lawns only
not a fan of stripes......
The mat is pop riveted onto the machine and 'brushes' the clippings into the grass. It also acts as a safety feature to stop debris flying out of the rear. Taking it off would probably invalidate your insurance if the worst happened. Stripes are good! ;-)
Hi Colin, is the Honda HRS 536VK the newer version of your HRH 536HX , looks like a good choice with the option of a side discharge and the rear rubber mat to create a stripe which the Husqvarna hasn't got and the Honda is £200 cheaper.
No Chris, the VK is a very much lighter, semi domestic machine at 1/3 of the price of the HX, which has a blade brake, hydrostatic drive, no side shute and very much a commercial heavywieght.
I think think the HX might be a bit overkill for my domestic customers lawns, but I like the look of the VK.
Definitely Chris.
