Many thanks to you both richard and phil
The main 2 products that I try to market to retailers are :
1. root barriers for Bamboo/ rhizome barrier:
I learned from hundreds of customers that in a matter of time all bamboo plants spread, ( even clamping ones)
I supply heavy duty barrier that can stend the pressure for many years (hdpe 1.8kg/sqm).
2. Lawn/path edgings that lasts many years 3 colours 3 deapth options, in rolls and so.
I tried email marketing no reasponse so far, a bit of calls not much else.
both products are fantastic opprtunity to supply quality answears for needs and success can be guaranteed both to retailers and consummers.
but not yet sure of best way to communicate with retail buyers.
Ofer with regard to your lawn edging, have you considered approaching turf suppliers?
Telephone first, ask for the buyers name, send a letter addressed to the buyer with some product info, in your letter say that you will follow up with a phone call, when you telephone ask to speak to the buyer and try and make an appointment to demonstrate your product.
I would respectfully suggest that once you have written your letter you let someone else read it through first before sending it out to give you some feedback, amend your letter if you need to.
When you phone for an appointment have a script by you to make sure you cover all the relevant points, test drive your marketing plan in one particular geographic area and change anything that you feel you can improve on before trying another area.
Try reading a few marketing books to give you ideas.
Many thanks,
It sounds like good plann!
I will trail it coming week.
(this week I had 2.5 days of fire fighting in woods- it was nice to be outdoor but I barely had time to work on my business as it was only 4 days week) birthday party to the girls last weekend and this weekend. so busy....
Girls are now 8,5 and 2.5 . hard to bealive how fast they grow.
phil many thanks for your help
Have you got the retail package right If you want me to look over your POS material drop me a line.
Fenland Phil offers good advise, but to be sucsessfull have you a markating plan,
A few thaughts are
Are you order volume to high ?
Is you range to small ?
Do you have a indication of sell rate you can share with other customers ?
Are you targating the right customers ?
Have you got the retail package right If you want me to look over your POS material drop me a line.
If a customer want to order they will not be bothered about you being busy fighting fires or birthday partys, the customer is first. If they cant place an order they will go some place else.
Hi Jonathan,
Many thanks for your reasponse, Some of your questions are not very clear, ''is your range to small...?''
I write in lj, more than 3 years, sometimes to hellp sometimes to get help. One of the nice things for me is to get to know new friends here. So Some know my personal size too- I do not think that it is bad.
( I know that phil's daughter is a student for example- it does mke it more personal)
I live in a tiny village so normally - no calls to fire at all! and I can proudly say that all my customers are getting best customers service that most uk retailers just can not give or get from other firms!
It was very unusall that we (Our crew) was sent to the other side of the county to fight massive woods fire.
Normally I am here 7 days a week to take orders, I offer good prices for products with 100% success guaranted.
I looked at your page, completly oppossie attidude than mine, All you are willing to say about you is that you are selling something- I find it strange, not even a clue?
Hard to understand what is your experiance that you are coming from, when you write things?
but the fact that you reasponse is very appriciated, thank you
Ofer
Is your range to small ? With many customers (Not all) who are pressed for time they do not want to deal with a diverse supplier base, and would rather deal with just one who can offer a wider range than yourself, as well as the time to talk with a supplier there is the admin costs of processing the invoice, making payment etc.

I also do some work for some companys in product development that is covered under Non disclosure agreements.
Hi Ofer
I'm seeing one of our bamboo suppliers today, so will mention it to him. He ships about 4-5,000 units per annum, so might be useful will let you know his thoughts.
Rich
