lowering fuel consumption in vehicles.

i drove steady (very) on a returning 170 mile journey tues day evening .  i left late at night also so as to avoid traffic.    I saved £14.00 by doing a jeremy clarkson- i would normally use (£50.00maybe)  so £36.00 used for 170miles.          i used the rest of the £127.00 doing 280 miles (£99.00)

someone talked about removing roof racks / weight  - this would also save fuel.

I had my roof-rack on too :(

but managed to get 29.66mpg    from a 3.2TD auto lwb shogun-03  150,000k shogun (fsh)

  •  I get about 40 mpg from my transporter 1.9  102 bhp

if you can drive at 70-75  and avoid  the brakes so give lots of room between you and the car in front ,it works very well

  • I saved £14.00 by doing a jeremy clarkson

How does insulting public sector workers improve MPG?!

  • do you get : holiday pay , sick pay , pension, fuel allowance lol......

  • the astra van i just parted company with would do 140 miles on £20 diesel with my slightly erratic driving (2.0 diesel 2000 w reg'd)

i now have a vauxhall frontera 2.5 diesel and i got back from barnsley 80 ish miles on less than £15 diesel.

  • ive found a diesel leak on the frontera acording to the frontera forums its a common issue on the feed and return pipes above the fuel tank. and the fuel guage doesnt appear to be working properly so isnt giving an accurate reading so my fuel economy wouldnt be accurate.
