I've used the same electrician for 2yrs - we met through the business gateway when we were both starting out. We have both learnt what works and what doesn't.
I'd recommend finding an electrician you can work with and then get them to visit the site to survey as well. They'll give you a quote based on real info - choose lights from their supplier if poss as any problems go back through them.
Make sure they have PL ins too.
Make sure the lighting is an estimate - not a quote as they do tend to come across other issues.
Have done quite a few now, last one was remote control, spots in grass and paving, uplighters for feature rocks and was about 2.5k approx but will depend on the house elec set up with RCD's etc.
