  • sounds like the taxman ought to have one of those..........

  • Haha, looks like it's written in ye olde Englishe...

  • Why be so critical? Good luck to him, it must be scary trying to start a business when you can barely speak the language! Better than expecting benefits!
  • If he is still in business in 12 months, he will have learned alot - and will likely be charging double or tripple that, with a nice leaflet I hope - OR he will be out of business before the end of the season.

Either way, worry not and focus on your own business!

  • why?

cash only? so he is black economy? maybe fly tipping? spraying without a license, uninsured, incompetent? who knows what else. oh yeah. claiming benefits ;)

  • TO be fair stuart - I've seen many people start out like this, clueless, who think gardening is easy and cheap, and 9 ou of 10 are out of businees within 2 to 3 months as they simply loose money trying.

Your points on their possible behaviour are all valid mind you - if he survives at that insane low rate - thats the only way hes doing it.

  • Sorry if this seems callous, but am I the only person who would think twice about a product/service with spelling mistakes on the promotional material/advert?

I personally think that while, yes, we all make mistakes, it is important to proof-read your writing before putting it in the public domain, especially if it's on paper. Bad spelling gives me a bad impression of whatever it is I'm being asked to buy into....

And yes, I do make mistakes myself. Yes, people point them out to me, and yes I correct them at the earliest opportunity.

  • Maybe he has nobody to assist. All I'm saying is its unfair to make judgements on an internet forum without knowing more, and any new business should be encouraged. Maybe invite him to join the forum?

I remember pointing out to a UK landscaping organisation that they had spelt landscaper with two p's [landscapper]. Not once, or twice but on every page of its website.

On the face of it, this leaflet (if it's genuine) doesn't look good and may well mean that the distributor doesn't get a great deal of work from it.

But, Richard Branson suffers with dyslexia and could not read or write properly...and we all know he went on to do great things.

  • don't mind me, i'm a terminal cynic ;)
