We did a job a while ago where I suggested everedge, however the client found this cost prohibitive so bought his own edging for us to install. Cheap and nasty shiny rolls of metal.
I have used smartedge available at landscapeplus.com worked pretty well little bit fiddly but customer is happy .
I use only everedge as it goes in quicker - therefore I've managed to convince most of my clients to go this route as they are saving on man hours. I refuse to put in the plastic edging as it always looks awful!!! The low budget option is just a pressure treated gravel board - and stake it into the ground. Cheers!
Should always be the first option...relatively easy to maintain, compared to cutting back creep over an edge and if deteriorates, or requires changing...no problem

Thanks very much for the replies. I agree that the clean soil edge looks great if it's constantly maintained. Clients who like a clean edge just from mowing require a barrier to be installed. Seems Everedge is the favourite for quality and ease of installation. The light, pebbly soil around the Sutton Coldfield area doesn't lend itself to holding up a clean edge.
We use Rite Edge, which is aluminium, around £6.00 per mtr depending on quantity. Can be bent to any shape and easy to use and cut. Comes as green, brown or natural.
Thanks Colin. Do you use Lite Edge, or one of their heavier duty options?
I think Lite Edge is a new product so haven't used it yet. We have found the rep very helpful and they will provide samples, advice and information.
