Hi Marc,
Most of the manufactures have gone away from the brass lances due to cost. The Birchmeier Iris sprayer still has a brass lance and part brass trigger mechanism and is a very good product.
Both cooper Pegler and Berthoud use a plastic lance and trigger now of which the CP is far and away the best for durability and reliability although they only supply a standard 0.5M lance with the kit v the Berthoud which has a neat extendable 0.5M-1M lance.
I would warn away anybody purchasing the cheap machines purely on a spares basis as to me that’s the key issue with any product.
Yes the Chapin machine is a good product although it's not one we sell, I would go to Amenity Land Solutions or Maxwell Amenity as they are now known and if it was me purchase the The Chapin Pro-Series 64800 Knapsack Sprayer as that is used mostly for powder fungicides and would cope better if your using iron to treat lawns etc and would be a good buy. The stainless steel wand is available on the Chapin 61900 Tree & Turf Pro Poly.
The Berthoud would be available at a great price from me I think gardens4u listed the deal!
as id said on other thread - £149? inc vat ... £30 cheaper than anywhere else , its comfortable with the backpack/harness !! very , just tried mine yesterday and works well. 4,inc deflector nozzles are under the top lid/in basket filter so be careful , or get a headache like me and watch the telescopic end doesnt retract . put the fittings on carefully and read instructions before fitting............
so glad i went for this and i cant see the fibre-glass extension or lance breaking under normal conditions.
ive not broken my £35 oregon one yet amongst the clutter in back of jeep.
also has 1-5 bar easily adjustable with a turn on the hose inlet/outlet.
phone chris (what would postage cost be in uk, GB) chris? others are £5-7 average i think.
