How busy is your website?

I couldn't find this on a search so thought I'd start a thread. I have never had big traffic on my site, but I have had a steady flow nonetheless.

The last 6 months on my site look like this:

March 2010763033.99
April 20102528623.42

I know some people get a LOT more than this, but I am curious how other people get on in general? I have not paid for any marketing, adwords etc. I have enough work so don't need to, but I do like to see my website being used and the Dan Frazer name becoming recognised.

  • My wife's site averages about 60 per month - she can't be bothered...shame as with a bit of work I could do alot with it.

Safety Scene - kids safety averages per month about 2,000 during the holidays and about 6,000 term time 2.95 pages per visit - conversation rate is very poor as most people just use it as a reference resource 0.3%
Real Oasis - averages per month between 8,000 - 10,000 depending on the season 4.12 per visit 2-3% conversion rate
  • Richard having gone through all the page descriptions and titles and named them appropriately to come up on google searches I am not sure what else I can do, how would you explain these figures of 8-10k a month compared to mine? What is it that makes website visits step up 100-fold?
  • Hi Dan

It's a different field to yours.

To explain the figures it has taken a lot of hard work. The websites are on all the search engines and that only happens through links as some of the SE's have very small databases and need links in order to spider effectively. Also you get very low returns on engines like Ask, Excite, Lycos, Eurseek, Orange, UK Directory...

One route to market that you could look at is having very high quality images on your website. You would be amazed at how over looked this aspect is. But it will provide links, reviews...and also makes a website look great, so worth the cost/effort.

Lots of areas to hit before and afters are obvious, but people are also interested in during, planting throughout the seasons, equipment, product photos...the list is endless and provides you with loads of additional areas that you can link into. LJN hard and soft scapers could team up and help each other out...

With the Safety Scene website I looked around at what comparable organisations had done. Most of them were garbage because there is not a lot to say...so I put together a big catagorised resource of videos, links, key stages 1 games...It took about 12 months but now most of the educational hubs in the UK have the website listed on their Intranets.

Real Oasis I could not find any sites involved in the field that I liked so it was trial and error. At first I wrote for the search engines but now I don't bother. Everything is on theme and linked so most pages rank very easily.
