am in cambridgeshire very little flowering am really disappointed as they are from a great nursery who supply the councils around here, just down to the weather i guess, shame as i planted a fair few!
I tend to stick to Violas as I find that the larger petals look worse on the Pansies if they suffer from the weather conditions. We planted a fair few Violas last autumn as well with only 10 or so looking a bit sorry for themselves now, so not as bad and we're in Berkshire. I normally run a second batch later into winter which generally tend to fare better (or have done in my case) and staggers the flowering 'explosion' in Spring.
I've found alot rotting off at the base, which Ive put down to the very late start to winter, until 3 weeks ago it was warm and mild relativley - no real frosts until jan, half way through winter...
I plant several beds for our local council and I have used approx 800 pansies (Oceania) in one of the beds and they have been very poor so far. Worst performance ive had in last 3 years.
Based in Manchester and found much the same. Have been really fond of the trailing pansies mixed with Violas in the past, avoiding big blousy pansies as they often look bedraggled when wet and wind blown, but this year has been extremely disappointing. Poor flowering, rotting at the base and generally unpleasant to look at! I tend to avoid using them as autumn bedding as my gardens are fairly exposed preferring to restrict them to containers in more sheltered spots. Most pots/tubs are bolstered with other plants and small shrubs so it is not a complete disaster but customers do like pansies and often ask for them to be included in arrangements. Maybe after this year they will be more open to something different ?
The HDC sent out a bulletin about diseases in pansies a while ago, and I must say I think I've seen most of the diseases in gardens in the last few weeks. We know the problems that climate and weather can give plants, but explaining it to customers can prove difficult.

I bought violas for a container this autumn and they have flowered once - I deadheaded them and no more flowers have appeared. That's unusual for violas - my last lot flowered all winter.
