    I would be extremely worried if you fell over when using it and were unable to throw the machine away from you in an emergency.

    The last thing I would want is a hedgetrimmer with sharp blades (reciprocating or not) coming towards my hands /face etc. Machines are replaceable, lost fingers are not.


    I would also worry about the top of the device catching in the hedge you are cutting thus making the operator unstable.

    Having said all of this, I have never used one but these are the sort of things I might put into a risk assessment or into my list of pros/cons before considering a purchase.
