i dont have health insurance or hospital  insurance.  i cant get sick/ tax credits

4 weeks min off garden/ landscaping work with no -pay .    i could have taken some out about a yr ago but decided i could not afford it....

in retrospect it may have been worth while.

injury is a work related disease , usually from manual work although other factors contribute.

are you insured ?     many risks in our game .   think about what you are doing is my advice.

I have an insurance policy that will pay out after being ill for 4 weeks and if say for example I was off work due to a bad back and 3 weeks later I hurt it again they will still pay out, so a pretty good policy.

I hope your operation goes well Robin

  • yes i put them off twice !     hope your keeping your fingers busy somehow - thanks.

hope your op goes ok as u know had mine 2 weeks ago still recovering glad i had it done now i would of gone mad losing customers in the busy season

  • I was in a similiar position early this year problem I had was that it was an ongoing problem that I had got years ago playing rugby so even if I had an insurance policy they would not of paid out.

I had from the begining of May to September off luckily the company was able to sustain my wage by taking on a couple of young cheap lads on, on short term employment. The things you do so that you can play again and kick a football with the kids, mind you a knee that gives way occasionally isn't that safe!!

Good luck with the op hope you get over it well.

  • I had an operation on ulnar nerve last January, it was effecting grip in my left hand,  and it took about 6 weeks to get working again, this is probably best time for operation, good luck with recovery.

  • Good luck with the op. hope all goes well,

I dont beleive in health insurance, just salt a liitle away for emergencies.

  • There's a lady, pretty well off, pretty fit really as well, hat I've been working for regularly for 15 odd years......... she's 71 years old and pays over 7k/year premiums on her health insurance...... she feels it gives her "peace of mind"! The daft thing is she's got so much dosh, if something came up, she could easily pay anyway with no problems whatsover. The other strange thing is the the private consultants she sees certainly don't appear to be any better than the ones at the NHS hospitals (probably because thats where they've been all day and then doing some extra moonlighting at the private clinics and they're worn out!)......... in fact, things always seem to be going wrong with all her "private" health stuff.

Yes, the old piece of mind chestnut. My parents have also been paying through the nose for private health care and yes they have used it but things are starting to go wrong so they are now reducing their cover and returning to the NHS to sort out a couple of problems the private boys don't seem interested in.

  • Wish you all the best with your op and a speedy recovery afterward.
