Are those American video's? For some reason they like the grass long there.
I cut according to the existing condition and state of the lawn , I never automatically cut any lawn short by default and especially if there is a drought forecast .
Sometimes i find its not easy to hit the sweet spot with height on some lawns it can look as if the grass has just been rolled and not cut yet next setting down would give the lawn a proper scalping and you would feel the blade dragging and lawn would look as if its been cut with a knife and fork .
I find my light cordless mower delivers a nicer cut on some lawns previously cut with petrol mower .
I was trained on cylinder mowers , never really got on with rotary mowers but they are convenient and more suited to the lawns i encounter .
My local dealer told me a while ago that the Americans don't cut their grass anywhere near as short as us probably due to differing grass types and climate. I have found that my Toro's lowest cut of 25mm isn't short enough for some lawns so I have to use hayter/ honda izy. I reckon though I'm usually cutting same as you around 25-40mm.
Was that the Maxwells Garden guy with the Honda mower? 50mm is plenty high enough for most lawns, the 'lawns' he was having problems with seemed to be mostly moss and thatch, so the lawn was the problem really. My 4-wheeled push mower will cut higher than 50mm, but I only really use that on rough areas or wild grass/flower areas.
Yes that the one . Eventually the moss does get up to the cutting height, does round here anyway pefect conditions for moss. I 've mow quite a few lawns where the moss is deeper than 70mm I eventually bring them down , these tend to be lawns where the client isn't bothered about scarifying / feeding etc.
Thought so. He's still learning 😂
I don't mean that in a derogatory way ^^
He comes across as a good guy.
ye comes across a nice chap.
I were just a bit taken back with the cutting height , as already mentioned its normally seen in the US.
depends on the size cut of your mower and how flat the lawn is as a big nower on bumpy ground will scalp it in places plus how offten you are cutting it
genral lawns cut fortnightley about 25 mm fine lawns about 12 mm
if you are on somthing like golf greens or the like it will be somthing like 5mm cut every day
It varies on the lawn, we drop people that want their lawn shaved, it doesnt do the blades any good and their lawn is rarely level enough to take it. I think its about leaving the lawn neat with no "tufty bits", that includes making sure the edges are neat and defined- there are also lots of variables from how dry the grass/ground is, expected weather over the coming week, how much room there is for clippings in the green bins,
