  • Diesel £1.329 to £1.349 just north of London - Asda the cheapest followed by the other supermarkets.

Seems significantly cheaper than some of your areas but still hurts...

  • Over the last few months i have adjusted my driving style when in the van, no rushing between jobs etc, i realised i was giving the van far more gas than required when accelerating. I was trying to drive it like i was in my car which obviously accelerates a lot quicker, with the van after a certain point pushing more on the gas has no effect speed wise (1.9 diesel, no turbo!) so now i am far more aware of my driving style. Fuel economy has improved i would say approx an extra 15-20 miles per fill up. Not much but a lot of my work is local so it can make a difference of an extra couple of days or more on the road before a fill up.
  • It sounds unfair, but after any efficiency-savings we can make, we do have to factor this extra cost in our prices. Life is getting more expensive for everyone in every aspect, people who were previously comfortable are finding themselves slipping into less certain territory and making sacrifices they used to take for granted.

I have held my general prices this year but have managed to cut out a couple of jobs that involve a lot of driving. I don't look at the price at the pump any more as I know I have to fill up regardless.

Not looking good in the long run, we need more reserach and development on alternative fuel vehicles in this country.
