Flier or pamplet/leaflet

Which do people feel is better?

I intend to carry out a large advertising campaign come spring, for lawn care - to date I have only ever used double side card fliers to advertise the maintenance business, but many of the lawn care specialists tend to use Leaflets, typicaly 6 sides of infortmation - is this too much, can I get away with a simpler punchier quality card flier?
Or for something as specialised as lawn care, do I need the leaflet with lots of explanatory information on, to sell the service?

    I don't think it's needed for a flyer.
This is the flyer I used at the start of the year...

You may of course have another leaflet with information on it for the customer after you leave that they can show their partners ect and it reinforces why they need to carry out the work.

  • interesting, what size did you have that as, and was it double sided, very nice if i do say so!

  • have you decided on your delivery method - are you nuking an area with direct delivery of only your own advert, or slipping it in a magazine/newspaper?

the stuff that falls out of the newspaper in this house goes straight in the bin, the single delivered flyers i do glance at.

if i'm buying a premium service, then i do like a depth of information - but then whatever the service, i know what i'm looking at generally, so maybe it's just professional curiosity?

maybe you need to concentrate on getting an invitation to visit to talk about your service, and then maybe all the info should be handed over once you have your foot in the door?

ie. a nice double sided card flyer and a nice quality pamphlet to be given out more selectively.

  • The plan is to Do same as this years leafletting - 1 hour each night after work until 10k leaflets are delivered (Delivering between 500-1000 each week).

I deliver them personally - and deliver them all within the area I already operate in - so increasing the customer density of my round (Idea being to restrict overhead increases from travel time and fuel).

  • If you have time to do selective delivering that will always give the best return of enquiry's.
To tighten your round up always helps however as the season progresses I always seem to end up with run around days.
I know the multi page folded leaflet you are on about, it must work but why? ask yourself.
Is it because the company's name is already recognised by most?
Is it because it as been put together by a specialist marketing company?
Is it because the same leaflet lands on your door mat 3-4 times a year?
The top two help however its the last one that gets you the work, the one we can all do3314557884?profile=RESIZE_1024x1024
Here is the leaflet I used this year, it worked good.

  • true - I've found I get about 1.5 % from a run, and if i hit the same area gain, a further .5% each time - plus another .5% over the next 6 months or so - very good for tightening up a round - This year cut my mileage by 40-50 miles each week but servicing more and larger gardens - simply by not taking on further out work and concentrating on building tight "rounds" for each day of the week.

Curious though - your £6 treatment, I take it thats for a lawn of about 30-40 sqm?

  • The price says FROM £6.00
Today I picked up 2 clients next door to each other both small bungalows, both retired
Property 1 £13.50 Front and rear approx 18Mt sq
    Property 2 £ 7.50 Front only 10Mt sq
The reason I offer a separate price for front only or rear only is because the larger company's have a minimum price around £15.00 including VAT, this is Ok for a 50Mt lawn however for the little postage stamp lawns its taking the P155.
Were I tend to get these smaller jobs I find I have around 5 or 6 together without having to move the van.
I know it still takes the same time to do the paper work stop start the van etc however it all goes in the pot and pays the bills at the end of the week with some wages left for me.
This is 2013 flyer next year new clients will be on a slightly higher minimum cost.
When I have 2 -3 vans running at full capacity and still a demand for my services I will re-valuate till then as long as my profit margins are acceptable to me and my accountant I will offer value for money on small lawns

  • What do you actually do/ apply for the £13.50 client, if you don't mind me asking?

  • I put down a feed 4 times a year, apply weed control as required usually 2 per year as that's all that's permitted, I also apply a winter moss control with turf hardener (FE) all these visits are £13.50 per visit, if scarification and or aeration required I will quote accordingly.likewise any other treatments.
