Fibre in my diet not welcome

Happy Friday yesterday we turned upto my biggest proudest country garden we work as a big team every  Friday

Sadly FIBRE was been rammed down my throat ( front grass verge ) by a very efficient 15 man Romanian team and one idiot Englishman

Basically after watching watchdog which and other consumer programs 20 years ago battle with cable wireless virgin and other companies in Swindon, cutting trees roots with diggers to install roadside FIBRE, I was met with the same scenario now in the middle of nowhere in Wiltshire

I approached and asked there supervisor there policy on digging round old beech Trees 200+ years. Delighted to hear him say not me

we will hand dig for at least two metres around the tree. Now fibre was edible ! Not for long though. I checked on my lads and returned 15 mins later to find a trench 20 metres long either side of tree. They'd done this in 15 minutes  ( very efficient Romanians I'd employ any of them)

supervisor appeared later apologising saying they now there job    And no big roots were cut. I was lost for words

thankfully I videoed the trench as they were efficiently back filling it but showed around 700 upto finger thick fibrous feeding and anchoring roots all severed

this fibre is good compared to 2mb on the over head cable but maybe a lawsuit or two to follow I fear

does anyone know the current policy they should follow ?

I like fibre in my diet just not this one !

one last thing the Romanians were very good at putting the verge back and you couldn't knock the work rate but sadly the supervisor on a Friday clearly wanted to disappear than deal with hand digging. I'm paid to work too but at least I covered myself and got the video evidence I hope proves  crucial if the tree dies back

time for WEETABIX

I suspect that team can eat Three shredded wheats for breakfast .

You did right getting video evidence , Working around multiple teams you have to be alert and carry out visual checks .

Cracked windows , Oil stains on the drive , evidence of mixed cement on meticulous drives , whipped bark on tree's leading to the tree's demise , I have seen it all , makes me despair .

It was common to see cable casually draped through shrubs out of sight out of mind style . It should at least be inserted through trunking to add protection , It shows the arrogance of certain industries that their product is considered so vital nothing will stand in its way in the name of so called progress .
