  • I got a Pro 51 K and all I can say is I hate the dam thing , heavy to use with the short handles just a heavy mower all round,  sinks in a wet lawn- very slow painfully slow sometimes . Its well made etc but I've been using different machine on wet grass , it does pick the wet grass up but not quite as well as I expected.  Bought a 2nd hand Pro46 a couple of weeks ago my rover on the way out so required a smaller mower and the relentless rain weighed heavy on my mind ,  I were bit skpetical after using the 51 so a cheap ex council was ideal for now , I haven't really use it enough yet to recommended it but I rather use that than the pro 51.

We demo'd a Pro51 quuite a few years ago and I didn' like it. It was heavy and not that easy to use

We use Pro46 and Pro53's - much better machines, both a pleasure to use.

I have a pro 53 Etesia, totally love this machine it just monsters though even wet grass , fabulous machine to use no problem with moving it about.

  • Had one for a year so far. Well built mower. Great engine. Variable speed. But as others have said it's heavy and not comfortable to use. I'm 6ft and I find it uncomfortable just walking in a straight line yet alone turning. Probably designed for french midgets!

as for its collection performance it's amazing. ESP with engine tuned. Great at rough cut and drop work too thanks to the double flap system.

the narrow wheels means in soft lawns it digs in. Another reason I didn't go for the pro53 as that's really heavy and got similar size wheels or narrower! I've tried the Stihl 7 series which collect just as good on the regular cut lawns. More comfortable to use though by miles. But still has tractor style wheels. So end up using the Toro proline in the soft lawns as that has better wheels for soft ground.

Maybe that's why I love it am only 5,8 ft tall.

      • Lol fair enough

  • I love my pro 46 in the wet compared with previous Vikings, I'm six five and find it really light and manoeuvrable. I use a roller Hayter in the dry so they both have their place.

      • Will. I had a 655 g and a 655 rs

the the pro 46 does a better job as more manoeuvrable and better Finnish, cost less than a grand.
I fitted a speed up kit that cost £20 genuine Etesia. And bought a mulch kit for when I need to mulch.
I also use a Hayter roller for dry fine lawns. And a ride on for large jobs.
But if the garage was on fire and I could only save one it would be the pro 46.

        • Sounds like I'm going for the pro 46 then ....

If you go for a new model the Kawasaki engine has more power and a fuel tank which will last for a full days worth of mowing. They also have a blade clutch.

the new models are also excellent at mulching.
